A lot of the time when I read WD's posts I think about one of my old computers. I had the chassis for about 8 years and for 6-7 of those years, I never put the cover back on the thing. Over the years it mutated with various upgrades. I don't think I ever had the latest and greatest because my work and life never really required it. Where I have worked you could usually bet that the office of a 'hardware' guy was the one with the the computer with the cover off. There must be something about see and hearing a hardrive spinning while it sits on the table top with cables hanging out like guts from a dead animal.
Maybe not exactly the same, but I think I can relate.
I still haven't reinstalled the network drivers on my daugther's computer since its last upgrade/repair 2-3 months ago. Also, the $20 garage sale okidata laser printer I got worked well for a few months but is now sitting next to my desk waiting to be put back in working condition.
I think I can afford better, but I work with multi-million dollar equipment all day and I get home and just want to take a little bike ride.
